1970 Ford Mustang Fastback Boss 302

History
The 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 4-speed represents the pinnacle of Mustang performance during its era, blending racing-inspired design and engineering with exhilarating performance both on the street and on the track. Its legacy as a championship-winning race car and a highly desirable collector's item ensures its enduring appeal among automotive enthusiasts.

The 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 4-speed is an iconic American muscle car that embodies the raw power and style of the era. With its aggressive design and formidable performance capabilities, this vehicle commands attention both on and off the road. Externally, the Boss 302 features a muscular and aerodynamic body, characterized by its distinctive front grille with black accents, prominent hood scoop, and sleek lines that give it a sense of speed even when stationary. The rear spoiler adds to its sporty appeal while also enhancing its aerodynamics.

The car
This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 4-speed is quite rare and original! It has the amazing Grabber orange color with black deluxe interior. But besides that, this car is also a very rare car as it's equipped with many options that most factory-built cars miss out on, as you can see in the below option list. But there is more that makes this beauty stand out. To start with, it was produced at the Metuchen Ford plant (T code in the Vin), which produced only 1/3 of all Boss 302 cars in 1970, and the Metuchen-produced cars had some special production details as well. Of the total produced Boss 302 cars, only around 588 were sold as export cars to Canada, and this is one of these cars. It was sold new to its first Canadian owner, who had the car for around 9 years before it was sold to the second owner (also in Canada), who held on to the car for more than 40 years!

He pampered the Boss all of those years, and the car never saw any bad weather as it was installed in his home garage. The complete body and all important pieces are therefore in great shape and are all original. And at some point in its life, it was restored, and the complete factory-original drivetrain was also rebuilt. We estimate this Boss is one of maybe 3–4 ever produced with these specs, and it might well be one of the last ones around that still carries its original drivetrain. So we think what you see here is a real two-owner car, and we also feel this car is in great and all original condition, which is pretty rare. The engine and transmission are still the ones that the car came with from the factory back in 1970, as are most of the car's significant features and parts. The engine runs amazing, and the car is very fast, to say the least. Its close-ratio manual 4-speed transmission and its special performance suspension and steering system make it handle like a dream, and all of this feels very racy up to this very day.

PTTM found the car in Canada with its last owner, who sold the car because he no longer had the age to enjoy it as he did for more than 40 years. This also means that this car was never marketed before, which makes it even more attractive for collectors. With its Grabber orange color and optional Shaker hood! The rare 8000 rpm factory tacho, the deluxe interior with sport bucket seats, and the wood grain dash fronts and floor console all make this car really stand out. As you can see in the pictures, the underside of the car is also in factory-correct style with red oxide protection and some overspray from the factory Grabber orange color. PTTM will also detail the underside even more in factory concourse-style condition. The paint will also be completely fresh and new, done in our quality paint shop, to make this icon look factory new.

And what better car to have than one that’s not only rare by itself but also in its Ford factory-correct race team colors and with its rarity in additional extra-cost options? Also, its rare production background, combined with its original survivor body and structure and original drive line. It just doesn’t get any better than this. It’s also a car that isn't over-restored and can be driven and enjoyed as it should. Furthermore, it’s for sure one of the rarest Boss 302s around today, and PTTM is proud to be able to present this exclusive car to its clients.

The Restoration
The car has had a 1-year extensive restoration where we took the car completely apart and we started with a naked body. That we have painted from inside and outside in the new, fresh Grabber Orange and Red oxide on the undercarriage of the car. The engine is rebuilt and a little tuned with better and stronger parts, the transmission is upgraded, the rear axle is rebuilt, and we have installed all new shocks, springs, and ball joints. We also did the fuel lines and brake lines to have a complete new undercarriage for the car and make sure everything is fresh and safe again.

The interior
The interior also received a complete upgrade with restored and working gauges, new seat covers, new door panels, new carpet, and updated and partial new wiring. It also has all new trim and new windshield gaskets to make sure everything in the interior is also new, fresh, and working again.

Overall
We have installed a new front window, new window trim, new drip rail moldings, and new rear window trim moldings to make sure all the trim is new and clean and the rest of the windows are cleaned and polished. We installed new Chrome Magnum 500 wheels and new tires, and we have balanced and adjusted the alignment of the wheels. Furthermore, we have invested more than 1000 hours in the complete restoration of this Boss 302! For performance and sound, we have mounted headers and a performance exhaust system with louder but acceptable mufflers and fitted original exhaust end tips. To test the car and fine tune it, we have registered it on Dutch papers, so we could drive it, fine-tune it, and make sure it's turn-key for the new owner.
