In 1897 a certain mister Ransom Olds started the Olds Motor Vehicle Company and started to make cars under the name Oldsmobile. In 1899, it fused with Olds Gasoline Engine Works and it became Olds Motor Works. This company started its first car manufacturer's plant. General Motors became one of the biggest car manufacturers and has many brands under its name.
