Pedal to the metal started their race activities

More then 12 years ago in the Street racing class.

PTTM drag racing started their race activities more than 15 years ago in the street racing classes, with a1968 Dodge coronet and moved up to Supergas and Super comp with a 800HP Dodge Demon race car and later raced in several types of Super-class races with a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 550 cui 2000HP B1 Headed, methanol Blower motor, a car that was build to race in the 7′ second range on the 1/4 mile. This car is still under development and might hit the tracks again in the near future. At one point more than 4 race cars and 3 drivers were part of PTTM drag racing activities and the were success full. Currently, the team races a 67’Pro mod Chevy Camaro in the FIA European championship with driver David Vegter (Read more below) Driver/team of the 69 RR: Fred Dorland – Chief mechanic: Sido Zeilstra – 1st mechanic & starter: Max Dorland – and several assisting members of the PTTM speed shop crew. The car: a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner, build and developed by PTTM, with a 2000HP 550cui KB full alu engine with B1 heads and a dual carbed blower on methanol hooked up to a Pro build Power glide trans and a Fab 9 rear end with Strange modular casing and 4.11 rear end gears.

Then Pedal to the metal decided

to host a new team with David Veghter Racing

The season of 2017 was a pretty good year for PTTM Drag racing. Pedal to the metal joined team Vegter so that David Vegter could focus more on his racing performance and Pedal to the metal could help with all sorts of management tasks and marketing tasks for the team. The team is now called Pedal to the metal Dragracing, or short PTTM Drag racing. The car got a new look, and we also got new team outfits to fit with the car. The first race at Santa pod was a very good weekend for PTTM Drag racing. With two qualifying races with 6.1 seconds on the clock were decent. But the two races after were even better with 5.99 seconds on the clock and a 5.98 which became David Vegter his personal record. After this five 5.9 second runs followed. Only a hand few drives matched this.

The races in Alastro ended eventually after really good races in the half finales. The engine took some damage and could not start at the finales. Although we didn’t start at the finales PTTM Dragracing took the second place in the overall Pro Mod championships. At Santa Pod PTTM Drag racing made it to the finals again. And we ended with the third place in the championship! Last year we ended at the fifth place, so there is an improvement compared to the last season.

After a few seasons our collaboration ended because of different paths each party wanted to make, we hope to see Veghter racing soon again next year on the track!
