1979 Pontiac Transam Macho #92
Rare 1979 Pontiac Trans Am "Macho" 6.6 Liter DKM 1 of 98 Built!
The history
In 1977 Kyle and Dennis started to buy 26 Pontiac Trans-am's from Pontiac dealers to have them tuned and cosmetically changed to a more ''Macho" style Trans Am, they tuned the cars to make them better driving and better looking. The two were called DKM Dennis/Kyle/Mecham. Every Trans Am they build is different from each other beside a few special editions they build.
So like we said, Dennis and Kyle Mecham built 26 performance-tweaked Trans Ams that they dubbed as Macho T/A The modified Trans Ams were a hit and the company, DKM design, performance sold all they could build. Which eventually made 203 of them in total in 1978, and they marked the car's trough other Pontiac dealers. They claimed that everything in the 70's was Macho, and thus why they called the modified Trans-am Macho T/A. And said, “It may not be the best name, but how can you forget it?"
They changed the following items on the car:
- Hooker Headers
- Koni Shocks
- Reprogrammed Automatic Transmissions
- Shorter / stiffer springs
- Different timing settings, distributor / ignition.
- 160 MPH speedometer
- 8000RPM Tachometer
- Special Paint
- No Mufflers only Catalytic Converters.
The car
This Macho Number 92 is ordered with all the options from Pontiac you could get, it comes even with the T-Tops option. This car is a real driver it carries still all of its original equipment. And it's looking very good on the exterior and interior, underneath it looks like a good used driver car, but also still all original, this car drives amazing. The engine and transmission are original to the car with both caring the VIN number stamped, that is really rare! This car is a true collector's items as they only made 98 of them in 1979 and there are only 63 known to exist.
This car is maintained very well, all is working correctly the air conditioning blows cold and the dash and radio are working good. One of the nice options this car carries is the 4 wheel disc option J65 this car brakes very strong and straight! The car also comes with tilt adjustable steering column & Power windows and many more.
These Macho's Trans am never show up for sale because of its rareness and when they show up they are sold in a flash, the looking is awesome, driving it is awesome, and hearing it's awesome! This 77/78/79 Model transoms are the most popular Trans am at the moment because of the Smokey and the Bandit Series on TV.
