1970 Plymouth Cuda 340 AAR 4-speed
New in our showroom: 1970 Plymouth Cuda 340 AAR 4-speed
The car
This 1970 AAR Cuda comes with a full rebuild and blue printed and balanced 340 TA engine. The engine is professional build in the USA by a specialist who really know how to build these engines, this engine runs very smooth and is very fast. 340 AAR TA engines run in really high RPM. They scream very nice and pull the car up very fast at higher RPM's. This beauty is the real deal, it comes with manual fast ratio steering, what you really wanted on a track, as power steering has more play, and this is way more direct! This car we imported it 7 years ago, and then give the car a mild upgrade on the interior and underside of the car. Where we replaced all the necessary parts for new, and repainted the underside parts and undercarriage to have a new and fresh look, this car is then sold to a Mopar collector. And he drove it now and then in the summer, and after a while he traded the car in for a different car, as we know this car pretty well. And we love this engine setup, we didn't need to think twice to have this car back in the shop, the car is always maintained in our shop in the past 6/7 years.
AAR & TA Cars are very special and specific muscle cars, they were build with a unique 340 TA block. It is a different engine block then a normal 340 Mopar engine, this engine is very rare, and hard to get these days, if you need one, this car still carries his TA engine! Both versions, so Plymouth Cuda AAR & the Dodge Challenger TA are coming with the exhaust system on the side, every Mopar freak loves the sound of a side exhaust Mopar.
The AAR CUDA:
The production AAR Cuda employed a 290-bhp @ 5000 rpm, 340-cid with three two-barrel Holley carburetors on an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. Options include an A-833 four-speed manual or A727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission, with a Sure-Grip axle and standard 3.55:1 or optional 3.91:1 gears. The distribution of transmissions delivered in these cars were 1120 4-speed manual and 1604 3-speed automatic. The engine breathes through a functional hood scoop. The AAR Cuda accompaniments in the interior were modest; however, the exterior certainly was not. With “high-impact” colors, black-matte fiberglas hood, front-to-rear side body strobe stripes with tri-colored AAR Shield and black ‘Ducktail’ spoiler made this one unique fish! Special shocks were added and re-cambered rear springs, which raised the tail an additional 1.75” over standard Cuda specifications to allow clearance for the exhaust pipes that exited in front of the rear tires. This also allowed for the use of Goodyear Polyglas GT G60 x 15” tires in the rear, paired with E60 x 15” tires in the front, making it the first production car from Detroit to roll off an assembly line with a mismatched tire configuration.
