The Car
When you know how a perfect challenger should look like, and when you know how you had to order a Dodge, then you had to get one like this. An 70 RT SE (special edition) with a 440-6 pack engine that means you received three 2 barrel Holley carburetors, that would make sure you would kick ass on the streets! Then you had the choice of a street gearing ratio standard 8 3/4 rear axle, or a higher street race/dragrace combination, you could order an axle performance package or a super performance axle package. This last one is ordered for this car, that means the car received a bulletproof DANA 60 9 3/4 rear axle with a 4:10 ratio setup. This car is superfast in acceleration! The car was ordered to race in the streets or a strip. A lot of these cars lost their original engines or transmissions during racing, but this car has survived it all. It comes with a lot of original sheet metal, all the original documents with even a list of all the previous owners, and of course the original drivetrain! So this car is never been roughed up too much and preserved for us to enjoy it today. It is amazing how an RT/SE challenger looks like. The RT + SE option was an option where you received a lot of luxury options on the car. The car came standard then with a smaller rear roof window, and then you received a very clean one piece headliner and a headliner console with light gauges in it. Like open doors or low fuel lights, it looks very clean and perfect on the headliner. The car received leather seats and a luxury wooden special edition decals on the door panels, and some smaller SE badges on the outside of the car, overall a very clean and a very wanted option on a Challenger!
This car is imported to Sweden in 1975 and there it stayed until 2015 and then went to Finland, and there we found this car in a private Mopar collection and bought the car there. And then we imported it to the Netherlands, the owners history comes with the car.
The Drivetrain
The original engine is rebuilt during the restoration and the original transmission is rebuilt also, they have installed a more street fitting axle ratio as the 4:10 is very short, and makes highway cruising impossible, so now it's more ready for cruising instead of more racing, but on request we can deliver it back with a 4:10 ratio, the original correct and date coded Holley carbs are still present on the car, and the original air cleaner bas and lid are also still there. the car is mostly original, and where was needed the car received NOS parts. The engine runs very nice and the car drives smooth and good, it's technically checked by our Garage department, and I have tested the car, and sometimes we drive it, as its a nice to have for cruising! so this one comes Turnkey.
The Interior
The Interior is very clean and impressive, it is all original and comes with the leather seats. And all the gauges are working besides the clock, this one requires a rebuild, these clocks mostly fail working after a period of not working duo battery disconnections, the rest of the car is working. The car even has an 8 track tape player in the car, and all the lights and overhead console functions are working. The wooden standard steering wheel is still in a great shape, on request we can deliver the car with a rare original Rimblow steering wheel. While it's not the original steering wheel back then in the 70's, but it will be accepted as these are really pleasant looking. The trunk area is very clean and perfectly restored, it comes with a rare and wanted 1970 Spare tire!
