Red, white & ready – THE 1969 AMC HURST SC/RAMBLER
One of the wildest and rarest factory-built muscle cars of the golden era—fast, loud, and undeniably American!
POWERED BY ITS ORIGINAL 390 CUBIC INCH V8 ENGINE, MATED TO A 4-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH A HURST SHIFTER. FINISHED IN ITS ICONIC PATRIOTIC RED-WHITE-BLUE LIVERY WITH MATCHING FACTORY STEEL WHEELS, THIS SC/RAMBLER IS A STRAIGHT-UP FACTORY HOT ROD BUILT FOR THE STRIP—AND THE STREET.
THE LEGEND OF THE SC/RAMBLER
In 1969, AMC shocked the muscle car world with the release of the Hurst SC/Rambler. It wasn’t subtle—it was loud, light, and lightning fast. Co-developed with Hurst, AMC dropped a big-block 390 V8 into its lightweight Rambler Rogue body and gave it one of the most outrageous factory paint schemes ever offered. Only 1,512 were built, and today, the SC/Rambler is a holy grail car for AMC fans and muscle car collectors alike.
This particular example is an original SC/Rambler, still retaining its factory drivetrain and unmistakable personality.
THE CAR
Presented in its correct red, white, and blue “A-scheme” paint, this SC/Rambler draws a crowd wherever it goes. While the paint shows signs of age and use, the car presents well overall and remains incredibly honest and original. It’s a fast, raw-driving car with tremendous personality and performance.
THE EXTERIOR
The SC/Rambler’s patriotic paint job is one of the most iconic of the muscle car era. This car proudly wears the “A-scheme” version, with its red sides, blue stripe, hood scoop, and white base color. The paint has visible flaws in areas, but still presents with a great look and stance. Chrome, trim, and factory-style decals are present and correct.
THE ENGINE
Under the hood is the correct 390 cubic inch AMC V8, mated to a factory 4-speed manual transmission and Hurst shifter. The engine runs strong and delivers the kind of brutal acceleration the SC/Rambler was famous for. Factory ram air scoop, correct valve covers, and vintage under-hood details are intact.
THE INTERIOR
Inside, the Rambler keeps it simple and race-ready. Factory bucket seats, floor-mounted Hurst shifter, basic instrumentation, and just enough comfort to get you to the dragstrip. The interior is in good driver condition and maintains the authentic SC/Rambler atmosphere.
