And that is if he comes for sale, as these cars are extremely rare.   The car we present to you here is a 1965 E.R.A. GT40 Mk1, factory built by E.R.A. in New Britain CT USA, chassis ERA #2066, delivered on 13.01.2012 in black/black with crème gold stripe package (this GT40 is not a kit car it's a 1:1 recreation from original)  It only has a few thousand test miles on the odo and the car comes with full paperwork and documents and German TUV/H zulassung as an era correct 1965 GT40. Which makes this car very collectible and valuable as you can drive it on the streets and racetracks.  On request the car can also be sold with Dutch papers.

Ford GT40 history:

Undoubtedly the most important sports-racing prototype in Ford’s illustrious history, the GT40 began with the manufacturer’s intention to return to sports car competition. After a failed bid to acquire Ferrari, which only sweetened the allure of dethroning the vaunted Scuderia on the racetrack, Ford entered preliminary talks with three firms, including Lotus, regarding acquisition of a proprietary race car design. Aware of the increasing success of rear-engine cars, Ford sought to field a model that could  match Maranello’s 250 LM and soon focused on Eric Broadley’s revolutionary Lola Mk 6 GT, which  employed a Colatti transaxle to absorb the immense torque of an American V-8. When the ink had dried, Broadley was paid to consult on development of the Fordrace car, which was soon named the GT40 for its 40-inch height.   A new subsidiary design and engineering studio, Ford Advanced Vehicles, was created at a British  plant in Slough, while Broadley’s Lolas were independently built at a site within view. Following the construction of a dozen prototypes, the GT40 entered Mark I production, with 50  examples required to meet the FIA’s homologation minimum.

Many of these cars were trimmed as race cars and sold to privateers, some with substantial factory support, while others were appointed as road cars and sold through Ford’s dealer network.  After the GT40 suffered a series of disappointing retirements during the 1964 racing season, Carroll Shelby was famously recruited to lead the 1965 campaign under his Shelby American team, though the factory also provided substantial support to the Holman-Moody and Alan Mann teams, among others. A variety of eventual tweaks, including a larger seven-liter engine, as well as continued chassis development from Detroit’s Kar Kraft (the new American equivalent of FAV), propelled the GT40 to a 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the Shelby American team showcasing star names like Bruce McLaren, Ken Miles, and Dennis Hulme.   The GT40, of course, went on to win Le Mans for three more consecutive years, and it remains an  American motoring legend, breathtaking in its performance, design, rarity, and historic cachet. If there ever was a real Legendary and iconic race car, with huge pedigree and history, it is the Ford GT40… Many documentaries books and movies were based on this iconic race car. The car we present to you here is, although not one of the actual cars that were driven on Le Mans, but its been build with the same exact details, body, chassis and interior details, but also upgraded in detail to be able to actually drive on the street or racetracks of today.

This fabulous Forty was, first registered in Islip New York USA as a 1965 E.R.A. GT40, two pre owners in the USA, imported in October 2016 to Germany, for sale with the German papers & classic registration (H - number plate § 23 StVZO) and on request can be sold with Dutch papers.   The car was just recently serviced and inspected and tested by the experienced V8 Crew of the PTTM Garage, and is in excellent condition top to bottom. The color combination of this amazing GT40 is truly amazing and gives the car additional flair. It can be driven to the racetrack on Sunday and back home afterwards, how rare is that. The body of the car is the same as the real race cars, so not the street version and that makes it even more fun, and it looks simply incredible.  Just imagine that you can now own, drive and enjoy a car like this and either ad it to your collection, or just pamper it as the only car you own and have this stunning beauty in your garage. You can actually drive it and even take  it to the classic race car races that are organized these days. Or just drive here to one of the many classic car shows or concourse de elegance events worldwide. And all that for only a very small fraction of one of the original cars, that you will probably never be able to drive as they are not only too expensive but also acquire and won't even get insurance for and that would need a special crew to maintain and get it running…

So if you want to experience how these 60s legends like Carroll Shelby and many others felt, driving and racing one of these unique cars, well here is your change and this is as close as it gets as this car is build as close to the real deal as possible and as stated is equipped to be used and enjoyed.  This car is also pretty easy to maintain and most of its parts are still available and replaceable and work on them can be done to most professional garages or mechanics. This opposite to the original cars which have more exotic parts that can either never be replaced or will cost you a small fortune if they can be found.   So don't wait to long, or hesitate, but make an appointment today with our sales and come see, here, and smell this amazing and very collectible car. As we can only sell it once, and it might well be the only car in the world today that can actually be driven on the European streets and tracks. You won't be disappointed, guaranteed!
